Just Go With The Flo! Record TV Shows On Your Phone!
April 21st 2010 08:30
Qualcomm's FLO TV will provide subscribers with the ability to record shows off the air. (That would be amazing! Recording on your phone! Who would need a DVR device?) AT&T has two phone devices that can receive the broadcasts through a FLO TV also known as "AT&T Mobile TV," while Verizon Wireless has two that pick up broadcasts also known as "V Cast Mobile TV." According to Qualcomm and statistics, subscribers have not warmed up to the idea of having television on their portable devices. (Personally, I think it's great especially for people who work by themselves or a 3rd shift job, it helps to beat the boredom!) but Qualcomm said that "it aims to change that in the second half of this year by giving buyers more flexibility."
Qualcomm will also let viewers buy service by the day, rather than committing to a subscription. (That would be awesome! Because if you use it for work, and hopefully you don't work EVERYDAY, it would be nice to pay only for what you need, when you need it!)

Qualcomm will provide interactive features allowing subscribers click for more information about a show or click to buy an advertised product. (Sounds good!) Qualcomm said the new features will become available on current FLO TV devices through software upgrades. Although these new features are great, FLO TV can only be accessed on a few devices. (Bummer!) But Qualcomm has demonstrated a device that will allow the FLO TV signal to be rebroadcast to Wi-Fi, which would make it accessible to phones such as the iPhone. Qualcomm doesn't have a time when that device would be available. (Of course! But I'm sure that they are working fast and furious on releasing it since they have competition looming on the horizon!)
